Types of Sign Boards We Make

Illuminated LED shopfront sign boards are the most common request we receive from shops and businesses. A backlit or front-lit LED sign board is visible day and night, holds up well in the heat, and gives a clean, professional appearance. We produce these in aluminium frames with acrylic or polycarbonate faces, and we wire them for the UAE power supply. Bilingual English and Arabic text is standard.

3D letter sign boards use individually fabricated letters — typically in stainless steel, aluminium, or acrylic — mounted directly on a wall or fascia. The letters can be illuminated from behind (halo-lit) or from within (face-lit), or left unlit for a clean daytime look. 3D letters give a premium, architectural finish that works well for offices, hotels, and corporate premises.

Lightbox sign boards are slim, rectangular panels with an illuminated face. They are straightforward to produce, easy to update, and work well for retail units, service businesses, and anywhere a clear, bright sign is needed without a large budget.

ACP cladding signs use aluminium composite panel as the substrate, with vinyl graphics or direct printing applied to the surface. These are widely used for industrial units, warehouses, and factory frontages where a large, flat sign is needed at a reasonable cost.

Round and shaped logo sign boards — not every sign needs to be rectangular. We cut sign boards to any shape using our CNC router and laser cutter, including circles, ovals, and custom shapes that follow the outline of a logo. These are popular for restaurants, cafés, and businesses with a distinctive brand mark.

Building and plant name signs are large-format signs that identify a building, facility, or industrial plant. These are typically produced in aluminium or stainless steel with applied vinyl or direct printing, and are designed to be read from a distance. We produce these for offices, warehouses, factories, and industrial facilities across Abu Dhabi.

Office and building directory signs list the tenants or departments within a building, usually at the entrance or in the lobby. We produce these in acrylic, aluminium, and stainless steel, in bilingual English and Arabic, and update them as occupancy changes.

Choosing the Right Sign Board for Your Business

The right sign board depends on a few practical factors, and we always talk these through with clients before we start designing anything.

Visibility is the first question. How far away do people need to read your sign? A sign on a busy road needs larger text and higher contrast than a sign above a door in a quiet corridor. We look at the viewing distance, the angle of approach, and what is behind the sign before we recommend a size and style.

Day and night appearance matters for most businesses. An unlit sign can look sharp in daylight but disappear at night. If your business is open in the evening, or if your premises are on a road where passing traffic matters, an illuminated sign is worth the investment.

The UAE climate is hard on sign boards. Temperatures regularly exceed 45°C in summer, UV exposure is intense, and dust gets into everything. We choose materials and finishes that are appropriate for outdoor use in this environment — not materials that look good in a catalogue but fail after two summers on a Musaffah fascia.

Signboard Permits in Abu Dhabi — We Help with the Process

In Abu Dhabi, most external sign boards require a permit from the relevant authority before they can be installed. The requirements vary depending on the location, the type of sign, and the nature of the premises.

We are familiar with the permit and approval process for sign boards in Abu Dhabi, and we help our clients navigate it. This typically involves preparing the artwork and technical drawings in the required format, submitting the application, and coordinating with the authority on any revisions. We handle this as part of the job — you do not need to manage the process yourself.

If you are in a free zone such as KEZAD or ICAD, the approval process goes through the zone authority rather than the municipality. We have experience with both and will advise on the right process for your location.

From Site Visit and Design to Fabrication and Installation

Here is how a typical sign board project works with our team:

Site visit. We start with a visit to your premises. We measure the available space, look at the fascia or wall where the sign will go, check the power supply if the sign will be illuminated, and take photos. This takes the guesswork out of the design and means the sign we produce will actually fit and look right when it goes up.

Design. We prepare a design based on your brief, your logo or brand guidelines, and what we observed on site. We show you a visual before we start making anything, and we revise it until you are happy.

Permit application. Where a permit is required, we prepare and submit the application at this stage, using the approved design.

Fabrication in our Musaffah workshop. Once the design is approved and the permit is in hand, we manufacture the sign in our own workshop. We do not outsource fabrication.

Installation. Our installation team fits the sign at your premises. We bring our own tools, fixings, and access equipment for most standard installations. For signs at height or in complex locations, we arrange the appropriate access equipment in advance.

Handover. We check the sign is working correctly, clean up the work area, and hand over any documentation you need — including the permit, if one was required.

Maintenance and Repair of Existing Signs

Sign boards do not last forever, and in the Abu Dhabi climate they can deteriorate faster than expected. LEDs fail, faces crack or yellow, fixings corrode, and vinyl graphics peel. A sign board that looked good when it was installed can start to look tired after a few years.

We repair and maintain existing sign boards — not just ones we made ourselves. If your sign board has a fault, looks worn, or needs updating with new text or graphics, contact us and we will assess what is needed. Sometimes a repair or a face replacement is all that is required. Other times, a full replacement makes more sense. We will give you an honest assessment either way.

How long does a sign board take to produce and install? Lead time depends on the type of sign, the quantity, and whether a permit is required. A straightforward shopfront sign board without a permit can often be turned around relatively quickly. A sign that requires a permit application will take longer, as the approval process adds time. We will give you a realistic timeline when you enquire — we do not give optimistic estimates that we cannot meet.
