Engraving is one of those crafts that looks simple from the outside but takes real skill and the right equipment to do well. At Point to Point Advertising Designs LLC, we have been running an engraving workshop in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi since 2016. We engrave on metal, acrylic, wood, and specialist materials — producing everything from a single office door plate to large batches of equipment labels for industrial sites across the UAE.
This article explains what we engrave, how we do it, and what to expect when you place an order with our team.
What We Engrave
Our workshop handles a wide range of materials. Here is what we work with regularly:
Stainless steel is one of the most common requests we receive. It is durable, looks professional, and holds up well outdoors. We engrave room name plates, building entrance plaques, equipment tags, and directional signs on stainless steel, with text in English, Arabic, or both.
Brass gives a traditional, premium finish that works well for building plaques, commemorative plates, and corporate gifts. We engrave logos, names, and decorative text on brass sheet, and can apply colour fill to the engraved areas for contrast.
Aluminium is lighter than steel and takes engraving cleanly. We use it for equipment labels, asset tags, and signs where weight matters or where the item needs to be fixed to machinery or pipework.
Acrylic engraves with a frosted, etched appearance that looks sharp on office signage, awards, and display pieces. We work with clear, coloured, and mirror acrylic depending on the application.
Wood is used for decorative pieces, gifts, and Arabic calligraphy work. The natural grain of the wood adds character to engraved designs, and the results can be finished with paint or left natural.
Traffolyte (also called laminate engraving material) is a two-layer plastic sheet — typically black over white or white over black — that is widely used for industrial labels, control panel tags, and equipment identification plates. We cut and engrave traffolyte to any size and shape.
Laser Engraving vs CNC Router Engraving — Simply Explained
We use two different methods in our workshop, and the right one depends on the material and the level of detail required.
Laser engraving uses a focused beam of light to burn or vaporise the surface of the material. It is fast, very precise, and works well on metals, acrylic, wood, and coated materials. For fine text, small logos, and detailed artwork, laser engraving gives clean, consistent results. It is also the method we use for batch production — running many identical pieces in a single session.
CNC router engraving uses a rotating cutting tool that physically removes material from the surface. It cuts deeper than a laser and is the right choice for thick materials, three-dimensional lettering, and work where a tactile, raised or recessed finish is needed. Our CNC router is also used for the larger Arabic calligraphy pieces you can see in the photos — the kind of detailed decorative work that requires both precision and a steady hand to finish.
Both methods produce permanent, durable results that will not fade or peel over time.
Arabic Calligraphy and Logo Engraving
This is an area we are particularly proud of. Arabic calligraphy engraving requires more than just running a file through a machine — the letterforms are complex, the spacing matters, and the finishing work after the cut makes a significant difference to the final result.
We engrave Arabic calligraphy on wood, aluminium, acrylic, and metal for decorative wall pieces, gifts, mosque signage, and corporate presentations. Our team includes craftspeople who understand the nuances of Arabic script and take the time to get the details right.
Logo engraving follows a similar process. We work from your artwork file, prepare it for the engraving process, and produce a result that is faithful to your brand. Whether it is a small logo on a brass equipment label or a large decorative piece for a reception wall, we approach each job with the same care.
Popular Items We Produce
Over the years, the most common engraving requests we receive fall into a few clear categories:
Office door and room name plates — bilingual English and Arabic plates for offices, government buildings, hotels, hospitals, and schools. We produce these in stainless steel, aluminium, and acrylic, in whatever size and fixing method the project requires.
Building entrance and commemorative plaques — brass and stainless steel plaques for building facades, reception areas, and public spaces. These often include logos, founding dates, and formal text in both languages.
Awards and recognition pieces — engraved acrylic and metal awards for staff recognition, sporting events, and corporate ceremonies. We can engrave names and messages on pieces you supply, or fabricate the award from scratch.
Equipment and asset labels — small engraved plates for machinery, pipework, electrical panels, and site equipment. These are typically made from aluminium, stainless steel, or traffolyte, and are designed to survive harsh industrial environments.
Gifts and decorative pieces — personalised items for corporate gifting, Eid presents, and special occasions. Arabic calligraphy pieces on wood or metal are a popular choice.
Our Process from Artwork to Delivery
Here is how a typical order works with our team:
1. Send us your artwork or brief. If you have a logo or design file, send it to us. If you only have a rough idea, describe what you need and we will advise on the best approach. We work with common file formats including PDF, AI, EPS, DXF, and high-resolution images.
2. We prepare the file. Our team converts your artwork into the format required for the engraving process, checking that text is correct, sizing is right, and the design will engrave cleanly on the chosen material.
3. We confirm the details with you. Before we start production, we confirm the material, size, quantity, and any finishing requirements. For larger or more complex orders, we may produce a sample first.
4. Production in our Musaffah workshop. We engrave, cut, and finish the pieces in our own workshop. We do not outsource this work.
5. Quality check and delivery. Each piece is checked before it leaves our workshop. We deliver across Abu Dhabi and the UAE, or you are welcome to collect from our workshop in Musaffah 39.
Why Choose a Local Musaffah Workshop
Working with a workshop based in Musaffah has practical advantages that matter when you have a real project to deliver.
You can visit us, see samples of our work, and discuss your requirements in person. If something needs to be adjusted, we can do it quickly without the delays that come with ordering from overseas or through a trading company that does not control its own production.
We also understand the local context — bilingual signage requirements, the materials that hold up in the UAE climate, and the documentation that industrial and government clients sometimes need. Our team has been doing this work in Abu Dhabi for nearly a decade, and that experience shows in the quality of what we produce.
For clients with ongoing requirements — facilities management companies, contractors, government departments — we can set up a regular supply arrangement so that replacement plates and new labels are produced quickly when you need them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What materials can you engrave on? We engrave on stainless steel, brass, aluminium, acrylic, wood, and traffolyte (laminate engraving material). If you have a different material in mind, contact us and we will advise whether it is suitable.
Can you produce bilingual English and Arabic engraving? Yes. Bilingual engraving is one of our most common requests. We handle Arabic text carefully, checking the script and layout before production to make sure the result is correct.
What file format do I need to provide? We work with PDF, AI, EPS, DXF, and high-resolution JPG or PNG files. If you only have a low-resolution image or a rough sketch, speak to our team — we can often work with what you have or help you prepare the artwork.
How long does production take? Lead time depends on the quantity and complexity of the order. Simple name plates in small quantities can often be turned around quickly. For larger batches or more detailed work, we will give you a realistic timeline when you enquire.
